Quality characteristics

S-2 chopped fibers deliver significantly higher strength, stiffness, and weight efficiency than conventional glass fibers while offering superior durability, chemical resistance, and high-temperature stability. Their mechanical advantages include approximately 15 percent greater tensile strength and 25 percent higher electric modulus, along with improved toughness and impact resistance, enabling reliable performance under heat, ballistic impact, and repeated pressure loads.

They also perform exceptionally in high-temperature thermosets and thermoplastics, maintaining stability up to 760°C (1400°F) and meeting stringent aviation fire-resistance requirements. In addition, S-2 chopped fibers offer 15–20 percent lower dielectric constant than standard E-Glass, providing excellent electronic transparency and enabling thinner, high-performance radome and antenna structures.

S-2 Glass has low colouration properties compared to E-Glass. That’s why E-Glass effects the colour of the compounds and appears light green.
