Quality characteristics
Aramid fibers offer exceptional tensile strength and outstanding abrasion resistance, making them ideal for highly demanding mechanical environments. They also withstand elevated temperatures and effectively dissipate heat, which is essential in friction-intensive applications such as brake linings. With one of the lowest bulk densities among reinforcement fibers, they support weight-sensitive designs, while their negative coefficient of thermal expansion provides excellent dimensional stability under thermal load. However, the extremely high strength of aramid fibers also makes them more difficult to process compared with other reinforcement materials.
